The Children's Shakespeare Theatre began in 1999 when a group of 17 kids came together under the direction of Diana Green to learn about the play A Midsummer Night's Dream in the hopes of performing it. Nineteen seasons later, CST has produced over 75 plays, mostly Shakespeare, for enthusiastic audiences from the tri-state area. In addition to performing locally, they have toured to places as far as Fort Worth, Texas, and Stratford, Ontario. In 2016 they represented the USA at the 14th World Festival of Children's Theatre.
Currently, the company is comprised of about 80 kids who form two divisions: the Knaves (8-13-year-olds) and the Rogues (14-18-year-olds).
