At Venture Equestrian, we believe horses have a unique gift of connecting with people, building trust, offering comfort, and inspiring growth. That’s why we’re so excited to introduce the two newest members of our herd: Chipper and Biscuit.
These special horses have already made a big impact on our program and the individuals we support, and we are eager to introduce them!
Chipper: The Gentle Giant
Chipper is a striking Percheron mix with a heart as big as her stature. Standing tall above even our largest horse, she draws attention and admiration from everyone who meets her.
Chipper spent over a decade serving the community as part of the Rockland County Mounted Unit. In May, she was generously donated to Venture Equestrian, where she’s found a new role as a therapy horse.
With her calm, steady demeanor and gentle spirit, Chipper has settled beautifully into her new surroundings. She thrives on quiet moments during grooming sessions and is already proving to be a source of comfort for riders of all abilities. Whether you’re walking beside her or perched high on her back, her presence brings a sense of peace.
“Everyone is in awe of her size, but once you spend time with her, you realize how truly sweet she is,” shares one of our instructors. “She’s going to change so many lives here.”
Biscuit: The Playful Companion
Biscuit’s story is equally heartwarming. Rescued by Equine Rescue Resource in Orange County, he joined us in late June. Biscuit is a Haflinger horse with a larger-than-life personality.
Affectionate, curious, and brimming with energy, Biscuit has a knack for making everyone smile. He loves exploring his surroundings, pulling blankets off racks, tugging lead lines off hooks, and giving every visitor’s pockets a gentle nudge in search of treats.
But beneath his playful antics lies a sweet and steady temperament that makes him an incredible therapy horse. His friendly nature and approachable size make him a perfect partner for children and adults learning to build confidence and connection through riding.
“Biscuit has such a puppy-dog personality,” says Diane Vero, Director of Venture Equestrian. “He keeps us on our toes, but his energy lights up the whole barn.”
Settled, Loved, and Thriving
Chipper and Biscuit aren’t just new horses, they are powerful representations of why Venture Equestrian exists. Each rider who leads, grooms, or sits tall in the saddle is building strength, independence, and a sense of accomplishment that carries far beyond the barn.
Thanks to our growing herd and our compassionate team, we can continue to offer these life-changing opportunities year-round in both our outdoor riding arena and all-weather indoor center.
We are deeply grateful to the Rockland County Mounted Unit and Equine Rescue Resource for making it possible for Chipper and Biscuit to begin this new chapter with us. In a short time, they have settled in beautifully, already loved by staff and the individuals we support.
Together, they will help us uphold the legacy of Venture Equestrian: providing an inclusive space where horses and humans come together to live extraordinary lives.
