Dear Camp Venture Family,
It is with heartfelt sincerity that Camp Venture acknowledges the current crisis in Haiti. Many of our fellow staff have family and friends in Haiti who have endured much in recent weeks. This past weekend, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake struck near their capital, Port-au-Prince. Buildings and homes collapsed killing nearly 2,000 people and this number is tragically, likely to rise. Those who survived, many of them injured, have lost their homes and all their belongings or cannot return to their homes for fear that another earthquake may follow. Now a tropical storm threatens even further damage and destruction.
COVID-19, political unrest and natural disasters have created a true humanitarian crisis for the people of Haiti.
Please keep the Haitian community, your fellow co-workers and their loved ones in your thoughts during this time.
Sincerely,
Matthew Shelley and the Executive Team
